Silver Tip Tetra

The silver tip tetra (scientific name: Hasemania nana) is a small, energetic freshwater fish native to Brazil. Popular in home aquariums, it is famous for its shimmering copper-gold body and bright, reflective white-silver tips on its fins

Key Characteristics

• Size: They grow up to 2 inches (5 cm) long.
• Appearance: Males are vibrant copper and gold, while females are paler with a rounder body. Unlike many other tetras, they lack a tiny second fin on their backs (called an adipose fin).
• Behavior: They are highly active, tight-schooling fish. They swim constantly and flash brilliantly as the group turns together.

Aquarium Care

• Schooling: They should be kept in groups of at least 6 to 12 to help them feel safe.
• Temperament: They are generally peaceful community fish. However, males can become slightly territorial and nip at the long, flowing fins of other fish (like guppies or angelfish) if kept in a small group.
• Water Conditions: They thrive in tropical temperatures between 72 and 82°F (22 to 28°C) and water with a pH of 6.0 to 8.0
