Pincushion Needle Sea Urchin

Pincushion needle sea urchins are hardy, reef-safe invertebrates prized for their striking appearance and algae-grazing behaviour. These urchins thrive in established saltwater aquariums with stable conditions: maintain temperatures between 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.3, and salinity 1.023–1.025. They require moderate water flow, plenty of hiding spaces among rock work, and a varied diet of algae, seaweed, and occasional meaty foods. Their needle-like spines and docile temperament make them excellent additions to peaceful reef systems, though they may consume desirable corals if underfed. Ensure adequate calcium and trace elements to support spine health and growth.
