Shrimp wood aka Cholla cactus wood, (pronounced choya) is an interesting addition to any shrimp aquarium. Although not the best for decorative use, shrimp love this tank addition.
Water Quality Benefits
Cholla is soft and breaks down over time, releasing benefits similar to almond leaves and alder cones. As it breaks down, tannins release into the water. Tannins have antibacterial and antifungal properties which protect your shrimp from disease.
As the cholla breaks down, bacteria forms on it, making it the perfect place for shrimp to forage. Cholla also helps shrimp feel safe, offering hiding places for your shrimp.
Directions
Simply place the cholla wood in your tank and enjoy your shrimp activity. It can be cut into smaller pieces. Waterlogging can take time.
