Orange Lined Bristletooth Tang

The Orange Lined Bristletooth Tang is a striking herbivorous fish prized for its vibrant coloration and algae-grazing behavior. Native to Indo-Pacific coral reef environments, this tang features a golden-yellow body adorned with distinctive orange linear markings that intensify with age and proper care.

A hardy addition to established saltwater aquariums of 75 gallons or larger, the Bristletooth Tang excels at controlling unwanted hair and filamentous algae, making it invaluable for reef maintenance. Its unique brush-like teeth are specially adapted for scraping algae from rocks and substrate without damaging corals.

Best kept singly or with compatible reef inhabitants, this species appreciates strong water flow, plenty of swimming space, and a varied diet of marine-based foods supplemented with algae-rich preparations. Provide rock work and caves for refuge and grazing opportunities.

Moderate care requirements make this tang accessible to experienced aquarists seeking both visual appeal and functional algae control.
