This species requires substantial swimming space—a minimum 180-gallon tank—and thrives in well-established systems with stable water parameters (72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.3). Known for their intelligence and curious temperament, Mimic Tangs benefit from varied diets including quality marine flakes, nori, and meaty preparations. They're generally reef-safe with caution around small crustaceans and may exhibit territorial behavior toward other tangs. Acclimation to captive conditions typically takes 2–3 weeks; patience during this period ensures long-term success and vibrant coloration.
