Emerald Cichlid

The emerald cichlid, scientifically known as Hypselecara temporalis, is a species of cichlid native to the Amazon River a basin in south america. Also called the chocolate cichlid, it is known for its often green, emerald-like coloration when young, though its color can develop into darker tones and vibrant reds as it matures. It is a large, generally peaceful cichlid for its size, but can be territorial with its own kind.
