Apistogramma agassizii dwarf cichlid from South America, prized for stunning color polymorphism including Double Red, Fire Red, and wild-type patterns. Males display elongated fins and vibrant coloration; females turn brilliant orange with black fins during breeding. Requires sandy substrate for natural foraging and multiple caves or leaf litter for shelter and spawning. Breeding readily achieved with live baby brine shrimp and proper tank furnishings — parents guard fry for several weeks. Pair with dither fish like tetras and livebearers to redirect aggression. Offered as attempted pairs; sneaker males and mimicry in the species mean sexing cannot be guaranteed.
