The Golden Rim Tang is also commonly known as the Whitecheek Surgeonfish, Goldenrim Surgeonfish, and Powder Gray Surgeonfish. Although it is one of the smallest Surgeonfish, it is recommended for intermediate and advanced marine fish keepers. The Golden Rim Tang or Whitecheek Surgeonfish is sensitive to water variations, and can be susceptible to marine ich. Its beautiful body color combination adds a splash of vibrant colors to your tank. The Whitecheek Surgeonfish is one of the most aggressive surgeonfish, and therefore should be kept separate from other tangs. It is very aggressive towards similar shaped fishes, surgeons, or tangs, and is considered best to keep it with other aggressive species.
The Golden Rim Tang or Whitecheek Surgeonfish can be considered reef safe only if it is fed properly, otherwise it nips over the corals and can pick at large polyp stone corals. It should not be kept in a tank less than 55 gallons, and the tank should be decorated with live rocks, suitable sized caves and overhangs.
