Luzonichthys waitei, commonly known as the Waite’s splitfin, is one of the smallest anthias species. When seen in the shop they usually are orange, but once they settle in a (reef) tank the bottom 2/3th of the fishes become pink/purple and will really shine.
Due to his small adult size, it's a perfect Anthias for those who want a colourful schooling fish, but don't have the space to house one of the larger species. It's not imported on a regular basis, which makes this fish even more desired. When buying a school you don't need to worry about sex ratios because these fish are hermaphroditic. This means the most dominant fish will automatically turn into the male when there is no other male around.
Keeping this fish in larger numbers will definitely make it shine. Do make sure they can eat multiple times a day though, because in nature they feed on zooplankton the entire day, and are not build for one meal a day!
