Banded Archerfish

The hunting technique of the banded archerfish is impressive and has been studied extensively. These fish have the ability to shoot a powerful jet of water at a distance of up to two meters (six feet) to knock down prey from overhanging vegetation. They are also able to adjust the angle of their shot depending on the location of the prey. Banded archerfish are omnivorous and feed on a variety of insects, crustaceans, and small fish. They are popular among aquarists due to their unique appearance and interesting behavior. In captivity, they should be provided with a varied diet that includes live or frozen food to mimic their natural feeding habits.

Diet: Banded archerfish are omnivorous and primarily feed on insects and small crustaceans in the wild, but in captivity, they can be fed a varied diet consisting of live or frozen food such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and small pieces of fish or shrimp.
