The Black and Gold Chromis is passive while in its juvenile stage, though can become aggressive or territorial when matured or in a bonded pair. Since it is very easy to handle, the Black and Gold Chromis makes a very good choice for any novice aquarists. It is an excellent reef compatible fish and never bothers invertebrates present in the tank. The Black and Gold Chromis is omnivorous and feeds on a wide variety of prepared foods such as live or frozen brine shrimp, plankton, mysis shrimp, green algae, flake. It thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit, and pH of 8.1-8.4. We advise you to keep your aquarium decorated with lots of rock work and hiding place, to provide them a plenty of space to swim freely. The Black and Gold Chromis should be kept in a tank not less than 30 gallon. The Black and Gold Chromis is also commonly known as the Bicolor Blackmouth Chromis, Blackmouth Chromis, Blackmouth Damselfish, or Behn's Damselfish. It shows beautiful yellow colored body along with two horizontal black bars, and as it matures, it changes its color to brown.
